January 20, 2023 – CHICAGO – DAC Developments is excited to announce their plans for a new 26-story Sonder hotel on 424 South Wabash Avenue. With the introduction of a 285-foot glassy tower in place of an outdated surface parking lot and single-story commercial building, life and energy will be injected into the South Loop neighborhood. The new tower will encourage tourism and create jobs for residents by creating a world-class hotel.

The current DX-16 Downtown Mixed-Use zoning allows the project to proceed with no review from the city of Chicago. Therefore, construction bids are being accepted, and design development is actively underway. This green light permits DAC Developments to move forward “as of right.” The design of the building will be a prominent feature in Chicago’s skyline, thanks to the team’s creative vision.

Upon completion, the noteworthy $87 million development will boast a small lobby, 11,000 square feet of office space on the second and third floors, and 1,800 square feet of ground-level retail space with amenity areas and outdoor areas terraces. Additionally, 40 parking spaces will be provided within the building.

The hotel’s unique location near Grant Park makes it an ideal choice for business travelers and tourists. The downtown core is easily accessible by public transportation as well as popular tourist attractions such as Millennium Park, Navy Pier, and The Art Institute of Chicago.

DAC Developments is thrilled to be part of the revitalization of South Loop and for the opportunity to create a modern hotel that will enhance Chicago’s skyline. The development firm is no stranger to the hospitality industry and is looking forward to incorporating its signature design features in this latest project.
